New Search Feature

No new artwork today but I have something exciting to announce. I’ve been busy working in the website over the last couple of days and have just reached a good place to stop.

I have a new widget on the website. If you’re using a tablet or PC, it’s near the top on the right. If you’re using a phone, you need to scroll all the way to the bottom to see all those widgets that everyone else can see down the right of their screens. The new widget is a search filter on multiple categories and is labelled What Paintings Do You Want To See Today? Tick as many of the square boxes as you want and press Apply and the website will show you only those posts that tick off all of those boxes. For media and subject matter, you need to click on the plus sign on the right to see all the choices available. It makes it so much easier for people to find what they’re looking for.

As part of this exercise, I needed to introduce Other Subjects and Other Media as new categorisations of posts. I’ve introduced these into the blue ribbon of blog filters along the top of every page. To make room for this, some categorisations have been removed form the menu.

I’ve also brought in a widget on the right to filter by the four types of subject matter and renamed the Other Subject Matter widget Recurring Themes, which is a far better description.
