Chrissie Hynde

Life’s busy right now, and that’s even before the World Cup has started. Today’s only the third chance I’ve had this month to paint and the next two or three days are booked out, so I thought I’d better do something today. Whenever I’m feeling I have to paint because I’ve been taking too much time off, the results are generally grim but let’s see. Today’s subject is Chrissie Hynde who, it turns out is also an artist these days. An artist artist, not just a musical artist. Chrissie came up as a subject idea when I saw her in some 1970s or 80s music channel while I was doing the housework and I managed to find a great photo of her afterwards in full on rock chick mode.

This is a posterised painting using the shire scheme and following my usual process. While the final, dark, Shire grey layer was drying I sprinkled on some salt and it worked big time today creating all sorts of smoky atmospherics. Rather than Chrissie emerging from the shadows, she’s emerging from the smoke and I like it.

There’s not much more to say really, so this will be one of my shorter posts. Chrissie is up for sale, with the price to be found here.
