Michael Collins

Number five in the collection and things are starting to get interesting because we’ve reached Apollo 11. This is Michael Collins, the Command Module Pilot on the mission, the guy who got to stay in orbit while the other two went down to explore the moon. We’ve skipped Apollo 10 CMP John Young and LMP Gene Cernan and Apollo 11 Commander Neil Armstrong. Come on – we’ve worked out what’s going on here, haven’t we? And we’ve worked out that Buzz Aldrin, the Apollo 11 LMP won’t be appearing in this collection?

Michael’s second colour is henna, not my favourite but this is a cracking portrait. Those eyes are alive. No sign yet of any problems in this collection.

I don’t have much to say about marker portraits once I’m into my stride in a collection. I’ll just close this one out by pointing out that Michael wrote an amazing book on his experiences as an astronaut and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in this kind of thing.
