After such a miserable effort yesterday, I had to go back to the oil pastels…
Dick Spring In Violet And Yellow
I’ve had an idea for a new set of marker portraits. There will be four works in the set but I’ll keep the theme a secret for now. It is a really devious theme, so feel free to play Only Connect and try to work out the theme or, if you really want a difficult problem, try to work out what the fourth work will look like.
Anyway, first up is Dick Spring, a former Irish politician and Rugby Union international. I used only the violet and yellow markers today, two colours on opposite sides of the colour wheel that clash badly but that combine together to make an interesting neutral colour.
There’s a likeness there, I guess, but this one’s far from perfect. I think I should have just left this one as yellow and violet without combining them into a neutral colour in places. Still, I’m only a quarter of the way into this work. Three more components to go.
