See The Winter

Day four of the big September project and it’s been a fast one. This is a charcoal drawing of my right eye. I expected the eye to be the most tricky and time consuming of all these five sense-themed drawings but it turned out to be exactly the opposite. Everything just worked out well today. The colours in the iris, the shady brow, the wet highlights, the shading on the edges of the eyeball giving it a 3D look. I don’t like this as much as I like the ear and tongue but it exceeds the standard required for the second phase of this project. By a long way.

Normally, I’d take the opportunity to grab the first weekend beer but I’m going to take advantage of the time another way and start preparing for the second phase of this project.
