Secret Door Under Hartlip Church

For my second dash & splash of the day, I headed to Hartlip Church and did this drawing of some stairs down to a doorway below the church:

Was it the fight thing for me to do, drawing in all those flints in the wall to add texture? I think it was: the idea behind these paintings is to be as detailed as possible with the fineliners. I started by drawing in individual shapes for flints but later cottoned on to the idea of drawing them by keeping the pen on the paper and noodling around. Oh, and I did the drawing from a sitting down position but also took a photo from a standing up position as something from that angle, showing all the steps, might make a good “proper painting” another day.

For the the colours, the iPad picked out these three:

It’s another decent triad, with the violet making a decent brown with the raw sienna and a black with the green. I was pining a bit for red though.

The final painting is a bit boring, with green and purple everywhere, both in the foreground and in the background in the left. Yeah, that’s it. The foreground and background colours are too similar to each other. I don’t think I’ll be putting this one up for sale.
