Pete Green, Greeno Eats

Right then folks. Artistic Actuary here. Now where am I today? I’m out in the studio, specifically at the desk where I do my painting. Why am I here? Well, I’ve heard that Pete Green, former stadium announcer at Weymouth FC and now a YouTube creator at Greeno Eats might make a decent subject for a portrait. It’s a great YouTube channel and Greeno seems like the sort of guy that anyone would enjoy a beer with. I’m hoping this is going to be special. I’m really looking forward to this.

I decided to go with the black plus midtone colour scheme. And obviously Greeno’s second colour had to be green, specifically lime green, the lighter of my two greens. With the Enterprise Crew Collection I used a colour scheme just like this but I’ve made a slight change to how I use it. For the Enterprise Crew, I started with the midtone colour in both the midtone and dark areas and added black over the top in the darks. But for this collection I’m putting down the darks first and the mids afterwards. I think I prefer doing things this way. As I’ve said so often before the darks give me something to “hang everything else off”. Right, I’ll finish up, go outside and we can talk a bit more about it.

I like this one. Most of all I like my choice of composition, showing Greeno rubbing his hands together and doing that thing where he briefly turns his head away from the camera. I’ve managed to capture his personality and his body shape. There’s some likeness there, not a perfect likeness but enough of one that will look great as part of the final collection

I’ve got to come up with a score for this. Tricky. Do you know what? I’m going for 3.5/5. But does it get Greeno’s green light? Does it? Greeno? Greeno! Greeno!
