KathyB

It’s an indoor job today while I wait for the rain to arrive. Ā I thought I’d have another go at a figure drawing with the coloured pencils, again with a model facing away from me and with lots of straight lines. Ā Today’s model is KathyB, making her debut.

There’s not much to say about how I put this one together, must of it being along the same lines as Charlie’s Back. Ā The only real difference was that I held off for even longer before using the points of the pencils, only using the edges of the leads. Ā After doing this, I think I now understand the limits of how much colour the paper can take on. Ā I’m going to be upgrading to heavier paper at some point this week. Ā As well as being short of colour capacity, this paper can be smudgy when rubbing out the pencil lines – there’s a smudge on this one, just above Kathy’s head.
I think this one’s a success. Ā I’ll definitely be continuing to use the edges of pencils to add layers on figure drawings going forward. Ā Saving the points of the pencils for a bit of burnishing at the end and maybe some linework and detail. Ā  So this one’s up for sale.
