Soft Pastel Swatches

The swatching continues with the soft pastels. As I said before I have a set of 28 portrait colours, a set of 14 cloudy sky colours and a set of 14 green landscape colours with only a couple of duplicates. I’ve swatched them out today on the black paper that I got with them. All I did was to put down colour and move it around with a finger, pushing it into the paper. I’ve heard there may be people out there who would brush water over the marks but that doesn’t chime with me right now.

I was thinking of doing another set of swatches on white paper but decided to hold off in the end. These colours look so good on the bock paper that I’ll be continuing on black for the foreseeable future. It’s those lighter tones in all three sets. You can see all the texture and tooth of the paper through it: it’s amazing.

And the colours. Wow! A great selection, And I’m already thinking that some of those portrait colours will be incorporated into landscapes and vice versa. It’s a great time to be alive.
