Dale Harding

Nearly there now. Number seven in the collection is Dale Harding, played by William Redfield.

A decent enough likeness but quite a boring painting compositionally with big light shapes, big dark shapes, not many shadows on the face and too rhythmic a set of shadowy stripes on his top. In my defence it was difficult to find a decent source photo of Dale that was in focus and that actually looked like him.

I’ve gone for the orange marker in this one. Not to reflect Dale’s closeted homosexuality (something that has gone completely over my head every time I’ve seen the film) but because I now have one eye on the final collection and how I’d like to arrange them as a group of eight. Orange felt right for where this one will go.

All of which leaves me with just one to go…

The complete collection can be seen here.
