This is the result of one of the exercises in Keys To Drawing by Bert…
Clive
Another portrait. This is Clive the bantering butcher from the local farmshop at MB Farms (http://www.mbfarms.co.uk/index.html) in Stockbury, Kent. It’s his birthday today.
Today for the flesh tones I stuck to my flesh tone and grey markers – no impressionistic primaries thrown in there. Although I did include a bit of green in the hair. I fancied going for quite a minimalist approach, not drawing in any wrinkles or facial creases and drawing a side-on profile rather than a three quarter view.
It looks OK if you’ve never met him. If you have, then you’d probably agree with me that this isn’t such an obvious likeness to the model as the drawings of Roy and Jimbo the other day.
I framed this and dropped it off at MB Farms for Clive to keep a couple of days later. He wasn’t in so it sat proudly on the display counter for the rest of the day.
